Kingswood Elementary

Welcome Back after March Break

Good Evening Kingswood Families,

We are looking forward to welcoming all our students back to Kingswood tomorrow morning. We hope that you all had a wonderful March Break! It looks like Spring may have arrived. Please make sure your children are dressed for the weather (puddles, mud etc.) as we will be continuing to go outside every day.

Tomorrow, Phase 3 of Nova Scotia’s reopening plan begins. Here are a few updates for Kingswood families to be aware of:

Masking

Masking will still be required for anyone who enters the school and on the bus. We will continue to follow the masking protocols that we were doing prior to the break.

Cafeteria

We continue to encourage families to order cafeteria lunches and snacks online and in advance, but we will now allow students to come into the cafeteria before 8:45am to order lunch or snacks for that day. Please keep in mind that for a student to be able to use this option they must arrive at school with enough time to do this. Students will not be permitted to leave class after classes start at 8:45am to go and order food. Students will continue to eat their lunches in their classrooms as our cafeteria is too small for all the students and it is also being used as Music/PE space.

Picking Up and Dropping Off Students and Items

At Kingswood we are going to continue to limit the number of people entering our building. We will be doing this for a few reasons such as, Covid is still in our lives, security, and our school population is large, and our office is small. People picking up or dropping off students/items should still call the school to speak with our Administrative Assistants. They will get your children for you, and they will sign them in and out. They will also meet you at the door to get items from you and take them to your children. Parents have appreciated how efficient this has been working over the past two years and we are going to continue doing the things that have worked well.

Please Stay Home if You Are Not Feeling Well

We are very happy that the number of Covid cases in NS has gone down but we also know that Covid as well as other illnesses are still around. So, if your child is sick, they should stay home, rest up and return when they are better. If your child has COVID symptoms, please remember to follow the directions outlined by Public Health for testing and isolation.  The Dept. of Health is still recommending that people test themselves for Covid regularly and along with the test kits that were sent home prior to the break we do have some additional test kits here that we can give out to families on request.

Thank You

Thank you to all families that brought in money for our Tattletales fundraiser. We collected $800 and as a result, PSA will be giving the school $500 to spend on books for our students.
