Kingswood Elementary

Literacy Week

Evening Kingswood Families,

Literacy week is January 27-31.  This year we have scheduled activities to highlight literacy here at Kingswood.  Please see the attached notice for a list of our activities.  Please note that on January 30th we will be doing a book swap.

For book swap, each student is asked to sort through their bookshelves at home to find books that are ready for new homes.  Books should be appropriate for P-6 readers and be in good condition.  Cover on, no rips or tears and not coloured in.  Students can bring in as many books as they want.  On the day of the book swap classroom teachers will take their classes down to the foyer to select books on display brought in by the entire school. It’s a great way to get “new to you” books and keep students reading this winter.  “Old” books to one student get to be “New” books to another!

Books will be collected all next week (Jan. 20-24).  Books need to be passed in to classroom teachers so we can track the number of books as well as grade level.

It is going to be a fun week ahead.  Hope you all have a warm weekend out of the cold.
